How Exercise Really Effects Your Body

Why do you workout? Many people hit the gym to sculpt their bodies to be more pleased with their appearance. They want lean, toned bodies to show off at the beach. Others exercise to improve their health and increase their energy and longevity. Yet even more people prioritize exercise to help them cope with chronic pain and overcome bodily issues. The good news is that exercise doesn’t have to be a solution to just one need or issue. Exercise is a necessary component of health that is able to bring positive changes throughout a variety of your vital body parts. Read about the different areas of your body that exercise can impact and improve!

Are you prone to shortness of breath? Do you feel yourself getting winded after moderate activity or even just walking up the stairs? Did you know that exercise could help improve your lungs? Lung capacity can be both controlled and improved up to 15 percent through regular aerobic workouts. The good news is that you can reduce your breathlessness and improve your endurance by increasing the oxygen capacity of your lungs. Exercise is even believed to improve the quality of life quality for both those living with or without an existing lung condition. However, it’s important to keep in mind that while the capacity of your lungs can be increased, you cannot improve lung function damage that has already occurred.

It’s no secret that exercise is wonderful for your body. For optimal heart health, the American Heart Association recommends a minimum of 150 minutes of physical activity of moderate intensity each week, or 30 minutes of activity a day five days a week. Proper heart health relies on plenty of exercise. One area of heart health that exercise, especially gentle exercises such as yoga, can improve is blood circulation. Those who suffer from poor circulation often experience negative physical effects throughout the day. This can range from difficulty performing physical activities or pain when remaining still. Regular exercise can improve the blood flow of the body in order to improve poor circulation that may be caused by pre-existing health conditions.

A condition that many suffer from, especially as they age, is joint pain. Painful, chronic conditions such as arthritis can cause daily discomfort for people that can impact their routine, hobbies, and peace of mind. Low impact exercises can provide joint relief by relaxing your joints and muscles in order to relieve pain and promote healing. However, it’s important to make sure that you are doing the right exercises to relieve joint pain so that you are not inadvertently worsening the issue. Exercise can strengthen the muscles around the joints, assist in maintaining bone strength, and improve balance. Exercise can also improve energy levels and sleep quality in order to provide enhanced quality of life.

While exercise can improve many physical areas of the body in order to alleviate issues caused by underlying diseases and chronic suffering or improve upon already healthy bodies,

another area that exercise can improve is your mind. Your mind is an equally important part of your body, the health of which should never be underestimated. Regular exercise can improve brain functions, including memory and thinking skills. That’s right, all the time spent in the gym could actually be growing your brain. Due to the variety of positive chemicals that exercise releases, it has the ability to improve brain function! Additionally, exercise can improve your mental state and help promote happiness. Exercise releases a chemical in your body known as endorphins, which reduce pain perception and trigger positive sensations in the body. The extra rush of happiness is just one of the many benefits that regular exercise can provide!

Overall, regular exercise can reap a variety of wonders for your body and mind. Be sure to get in a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day, 5 days a week in order to offer your body the optimum chance of good health. At the same time, be wary of over-exerting your body. Damaging your muscles and causing bodily injuries can hinder your practices.
