5 of The Most Unique Diets You Won’t Hear About Anywhere Else

Dieting can be tough enough as it is, but following the same old diets over and over again can get even more boring. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of new diets to try, including many you probably didn’t even know existed. Here are 5 of the most unique diets to try the next time you’re looking to drop a few pounds.

1. Paleo Diet

The paleo diet, or the hunter gatherer diet, has become increasingly popular in recent years. A paleo diet consists of the foods our primal ancestors would have eaten, including fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, and nuts. Coconut milk is my favorite drink in the paleo diet. Many people believe that by following this kind of diet, we are eating the foods that shaped our genetic makeup, which will have an extremely positive impact on our health. Health experts have mixed feelings about this diet’s results, but overall it contains a healthy balance of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, protein, fat, and carbs. It also is known to increase vitamin and nutrient levels. There are also many creative ways to cook paleo style, including quite a few yummy looking paleo appetizers to try. Consider adding a red superfood powder to your routine as you practice the paleo diet. This supplement gives you antioxidants and nutrition from greens, berries, herbs, and fruit.

2. Werewolf Diet

This diet claims to help you loose 6 pounds in just one day. Those who choose to follow it will have to eat in sync with the moon’s lunar cycle. People believe that the moon’s influence on gravity will impact people’s bodies similar to the tides on a beach, especially since the human body is made up of about 60 percent water. The diet has two versions, one called basic and another called extended. The basic version requires you to drink natural, healthy liquids on days that the moon is full. The extended version of the diet follows the same rule but has you eat smaller amounts of solid foods or larger amounts of liquid foods for each different moon phase.

3. Sandwich Diet

This diet is unique in the fact that you’re actually allowed to eat whatever you want. The only catch? It must fit between two slices of bread. The idea behind this diet is that you’ll eat smaller portions because the amount of space you have to fill is limited. But, on the other hand, eating a bunch of sandwiches that are unhealthy and high in fat, although still following the sandwich diet, can be counterintuitive to weight loss.

4. Sun Eating Diet

This diet involves skipping a meal and replacing it with time spent in the sun. Although it may seem odd, some people believe that the body absorbs rays from the sun and this in turn suppresses the appetite. As crazy as it may sound, experts have found that rays from the sun produce nitric oxide, which is believed to increase your metabolism. Skipping a meal each day can also contribute to weight loss. Just be sure that breakfast isn’t the meal you choose to skip, as this could have the opposite impact on your metabolism.

5. Military Diet

This diet lasts only three days, but claims to help you loose 10 pounds in 7 days. This diet restricts what you eat for three days and even provides a strict menu to those who choose to follow it, although certain substitutions are allowed. Although the intermittent fasting and low calorie intake can provide you with the results you’re looking for, many experts say this is not a healthy plan to follow long term. The foods you are required to eat won’t provide you with the nutrients your body needs to maintain optimal health.

So, if you’re trying to lose weight and have been unsuccessful or are looking to try something different, check out these diets. While some may not be appropriate for long term use, each are known to have given people the results they’re looking for. Be sure to consult with your doctor before following a new diet to ensure it will meet your unique health needs.
